When I originally heard about the reboot of the Mortal Kombat franchise, I was skeptical, to say the least, as the last two outings in the Mortal Kombat universe were less than stellar. Fear not, though! This game takes everything that was bad about MK Armageddon and MK vs. DC and turns it into a good game. Everything has been given a complete overhaul: the story mode, the graphics, new x-ray specials, and (perhaps the most interesting) the lore of Mortal Kombat. This game isn’t just a load of changes to an existing formula, though; it also adds some wonderful new features like Tag Team Kombat and a challenge tower that literally provides hours upon hours of playtime. Sadly, not all in this game is golden, for (as of the writing of this article) the online component is severely flawed. The matches you’ll be fighting in online will run the gamut from completely unplayable because of lag or "just okay," the majority being the former. For all it does right, though, Mortal Kombat is well worth a purchase.
